St Kitts and Nevis: The Port Zante in St Kitts was abuzz with huge activity on Tuesday with four luxurious cruise vessels docked in port. A huge number of tourists were seen disembarking and exploring the various local offerings of the island.
As the 2024 2025 cruise season is off to a good start, a total of five cruise vessels visited the island on November 5, 2024, marking a significant boost to the cruise tourism industry.
According to the information, these cruises brought hundreds and thousands of passengers to the shores to indulge in the rich history and culture of St Kitts and Nevis. The tourists were seen experiencing the warmth and friendly nature of the Kittitian and Nevisian people while on the island.
The cruises which docked at Port Zante were Mein Schiff 1, which was on its inaugural call to St Kitts, Aida Perla and the World’s largest cruise vessel the Icon of the Seas. Meanwhile, Star Pride vessel was docked in the Basseterre waters while the Seabourn Quest was docked near Carambola at the island’s Southeast Peninsula.
Several of these passengers disembarked and explored the island. Some of them also took guided tours around the island and enjoyed the world class beaches while patronising the various vendors across Port Zante and Basseterre.
The Tourism Authority of St Kitts and Nevis shared glimpses of the number of tourists exploring the Port and the capital city. They were also seen interacting with the locals with children having fun as they got themselves clicked with baby monkeys.
Some tourists also took a bus tour across the capital city of Basseterre, giving huge business to the locals and injecting directly or indirectly to the overall economy of St Kitts and Nevis.
With these number of visitors arriving to the island in a single day showcases that the anticipation of welcoming over one million cruise passengers this season will turn out to be true.
This was announced by Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew last week, who expressed his optimism that St Kitts and Nevis will be welcoming this number of visitors over cruises during Cruise Season 2024 2025.
He also expressed his gratitude to Tourism Minister Marsha Henderson for working hard and partnering with a number of international cruise lines who are now sending their cruises to St Kitts.
