The government of Grenada comes under an agreement and partnership with the Mount Sinai Health System. The collaboration is made in order to bring major transformation in the healthcare services sector of the nation.
The aim of the government with the new agreement is to improve the facilities of the existing Grenada General Hospital. With the assistance of the Mount Sinai Health System, the officials are looking to take steps to strengthen the healthcare system in the initial phase.
Mount Sinai Health System
Mount Sinai Health System is a USA-based body that is the largest hospital network in New York City. The hospital chain was started serving in 2013, which came into existence after the merger of the Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Continuum Health Partners.
Mount Sinai is expected to share its expertise in the sector to modernise the medical services for the service of all Grenadians. The agreement of the Mount Sinai Health System with the government of Grenada is mentioned by the officials as a significant step under Project Polaris.
Project Polaris
Project Polaris is focused on the modernisation of the health and wellness sectors and the development of a smart research hospital for the people of Grenada. The new state-of-the-art hospital is planned in Hope Vale to address the existing challenges faced in the sector by commons.
Philip Telesford, the Minister of Health for Grenada, shared his words on the collaboration and said, “This agreement with Mount Sinai Health System represents a significant transformative partnership that will fortify the capabilities of our General Hospital.”
The minister continued, “This collaboration underscores the importance of shared commitment, mutual support, and expertise in advancing healthcare. By working together, the government will elevate the quality of care provided to the citizens while ensuring that our healthcare professionals have access to world-class resources and training.”
Philip Telesford added, “This partnership is expected to have a positive impact on the healthcare system and well-being of our people as we strive to make our nation the Healthcare Capital of the Eastern Caribbean.”
The President of Mount Sinai Health System, Szabi Dorotovics, said, “The collaboration between Grenada and Mount Sinai is focused on what we believe is important. Enabling all citizens of Grenada and those in the surrounding region to have access to the international standards of healthcare.”
Szabi Dorotovics mentioned, “We recognise that this initiative is to strengthen Grenada’s healthcare system, to promote empowerment and equity, and enhance access to necessary healthcare services. This will do our part to help Grenada realize that vision. We are honoured to assist and are thankful for Grenada’s trust and partnership.”

The officials under the partnership expressed their commitment to elevating the safety systems and human resources with the advice of Mount Sinai. The initiative is also to upskill the healthcare workforce by providing them with the required education and training.
