Grenada’s 50th Anniversary Celebration will start off as the country gets ready with a line of flair events. The nation gears up for the most awaited St. David Independence Anniversary Awards. The nominations for this highly prestigious event have now been officially opened.
St. David has taken the opportunity to give a solid base for all the events by welcoming all the people from across the world. They believe in the slogan, ‘One People, One Journey, One Future’.
The St. David Awards celebrates the contributions of individuals who have been working for the community’s welfare and the nation as a whole. The St. David Awards Advisory Committee has mentioned eleven award categories for the event.
The categories for the event include Community Service, Education, Art, and culture. Business and Sports, Innovation, Science and Technology, First Minister’s Special Award and Environment Champion.
The closing date of nominations for the 2024 St. David Awards is on October 1st, 2024. People can submit nominations for an individual or group online at tiny. cc/stdavidnom.
Alternatively, they can also visit locations such as Home Pride Foodland, Westerhall, Skinny’s Shop, La Sagesse, Chinee’s Sports Bar, Belle Isle Junction, Mrs. Gretel’s Shop, Petite Esperance, and Ram’s Trading, La Tante Junction.

The St David Awards Advisory Committee selects all finalists in each of the categories. The committee comprises senior independent figures from public life in Wales and former award winners or finalists. The committee then selects three shortlisted finalists for each category.
The St. David Independence Anniversary Awards shows Grenada appreciating and saluting its nationals for their accomplishments. The prizes inspire future generations and set an example.
Grenada celebrates its Independence Day on February 7th every year. Since 2024 marks their 50 years of Independence. Starting on October 6th, 2024, there will be an Ecumenical Service at St. David R.C. Church at 3 PM. Along with that, there will be awards and cocktail functions on October 18th, 2024, at the Westerhall Secondary School.
November 2nd will be a fun day for everyone as they will welcome Extravaganza and Fun Day at La Sagesse Playing Field.
