Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit hosted the Roseau Central Annual Summer Camp participants yesterday. The attendees of the summer camp enthusiastically engaged with the Prime Minister of the nation, inquiring about his job and also shared their experiences.
This annual summer camp is being organised by Melissa Poponne-Skerrit, Minister of Housing, Land & Urban Development from July 10th to 24th. The kids of age 5 to 12 are everyday enjoying and engaging in new tasks during the summer fun in Roseau Central.
As part of the plan the attendees visited the Office of the Prime Minister and were hosted by PM Roosevelt Skerrit on Monday. The vision behind the visit to key state officials to provide diverse array of fun and educational activities during the camp.
Also, the attendees of the PM’s Office visit included Dmitry and Isabella, children of PM Roosevelt Skerrit and MP Melissa Skerrit.
Prime Minister Skerrit shared, that the enthusiastic and curious bunch posed questions about the job and had fun banter. The kids asked questions about the working of PM and how he is able to manage the whole Dominica alone. Further the PM asked the kids about their summer camp experiences, on which they started sharing their favourite activities and the skills they are learning through indoor and outdoor activities.
By the end of the session, PM Skerrit gifted all the participants with goodie bags and they were seen clicking pictures and Minister Mellisa also joined them.
Additionally, sharing the update on the social media, Minister Melissa stated that this time the summer fun has been kicked off with a twist. This time the kids are being offered with more outdoor activities to explore and engage.
She shared, “From Discover Dominica Days to hiking at Jack’s Walk, visiting Freshwater Lake and Ti Kwen Glo Sho, drumming, jewellery making, and fun circle times with positive affirmations, daily reading, math power, movie time and the ever-popular Fun Day Fridays – like last week’s ooey-gooey slime day! This summer will be unforgettable!”
It is to be noted that this time the kids will also participate in activities like Photography, Soap Making, Songwriting, Outdoor cooking, TikTok Video creation and many more interest generating events.
