The public expressed deep outrage after the dead body of a 15-year-old teenage girl was found lying at a popular beach in Antigua and Barbuda.
The heinous murder of Achazia James – a student at the Princess Margaret School left everyone in Antigua and beyond in utter shock.
Reportedly, the girl’s body was discovered in a trail of blood, as per police the crime scene indicated a violent attack at the Runaway Beach on Sunday morning.
Achazia James was from Fort Road and was last seen alive on Saturday evening.As per the police, the teen’s face and head sustained major wounds, a part of her ear was mutilated, and one of her hands was completely severed.
Forensics suspect that the girl was attacked with a sharp weapon, such as a machete or a cutlass.
As the news of the heinous crime went viral, people across the Eastern Caribbean region expressed outrage on social media. Many said that the world is no longer a safe space for children, and the authorities are to be blamed for such incidents.
A user named Yhan K Abraham said, “Times are changing and the world isn’t as free to roam as it used to be regardless of all the calls for protection and equality. We can’t turn a blind eye to things like this and then react when it reaches home. Parents as well as young people need to be so careful what they allow and where they go. The company they keep. This is heartbreaking. The culprit should be dealt with severely,”.
Another Facebook user named Hilma Cuffy said that there are many heartless people living in the communities that are generally not recognizable.
Eunoia Joseph said that no parent deserves to endure this type of news, calling on the police to bring the teen to justice, “Dam 15 years, no parent deserves to endure this type of news. This world is sick and evil. Antigua and Barbuda please bring back capital punishment”.
“Ohh my that’s sad to hear this happening in our small island. Sounds like a crime of passion though hope the perpetrators are found and brought to justice,” said another user named Kelly Sandy.
Tanasha Unique Francis, another netizen suspected that the crime was done by a paedophile, saying that the family gets the person “an eye for an eye”.
