Silver Airways canceled flights to and from Bimini through August 2, 2024 due to the issue with an aging fire truck.
As per the reports, the airport authority has been working to resolve a mechanical issue with the fire truck. According to the Ministry of Tourism of Bimini, a new fire truck was acquired for the region.
The fire truck is expected to reach the country within the next week in order to resolve the issue. The customers were also informed that the flights are canceled due to the issue and the service will resume after August 2, 2024.
The disruption was happened due to inability of the airport authority to repair their firefighting and rescue vehicle. The facility was not in service since July 24, 2024.
Despite several requests from different airlines, the airport has not been able to resolve the issue. It has further led to the necessity of canceling flights to ensure passenger safety.
The Airport authority also apologized for the disruption and stated that this will cause inconvenience to the passengers in their travel plans.
They assured the passengers to work diligently to assist affected passengers with necessary arrangements. As per the updates, the operation of the flight will begin with further notice as they started an urgent search for the replacement mechanical part.
As per the Ministry, Bimini is known as an important hub for for domestic and international traffic. They stated that they value their relationship with airline stakeholders, including passengers, and apologize for any inconvenience and disruption to their travel plans.
