Nevis: Hundreds of patrons gathered at the celebration of the Nevis Culturama Festival 2024 as the Nedacs Cultural Complex was fully sold out. Tourists from across the globe arrived for the 50th anniversary celebration and participated in a series of events to experience the exclusive cultural offerings of the island nation.
The atmosphere was filled with culturama beats as the audience enjoyed the music with the performers and spent the night on colourful streets. The crowds at the Cultural Complex were amazing and the event turned out to be a massive success.
The Nevis Tourism Authority has been celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Culturama Festival this year under the campaign of “Homecoming.” The invitation has been sent to the patrons and Nevisians who live across the globe to return to their homes for the biggest celebration of the island nation in the year.
The festival, which was started in 1974, has now become the most successful event of the Caribbean region as it is quite popular among tourists worldwide. The aim behind the festival was to stimulate the cultural heritage of Nevis and showcase the indigenous folk art to the world.
Besides this, the Culturama also intended to invite the influx of tourists so that the economy could be diversified. By providing business to the locals, the festival brings lively moments across Nevis and enhances the offerings created by the common citizens.
Premier Mark Brantley also shared glimpses and said that the sold out marked the presence of Nevis among the tourists. With the festival, the local small business holders including tour guides, taxi operators, hoteliers, shopkeepers, street vendors, cuisine vendors and other businesspeople are given platform to sell their products and expose themselves to the international market.
Due to this, such festivals have great importance for the Caribbean countries as the culturama provides economic benefits and means of livelihoods to the locals. Now, Nevis has been moving forward with different activities for Culturama as it will be concluded on August 6, 2024, with the street parades.
The homecoming and cultural celebration also help in enhancing the connection with events such as Street Parades and the Last Lap.
