St Kitts and Nevis: A 90-day campaign and national consultation is all set to take place in St Kitts and Nevis to address the crime situation and outline ways of enhancing security of citizens. In order to commence the initiative, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew will convene a meeting with community leaders, and other non-governmental groups to provide details on Friday.
The meeting will serve as the preliminary engagement as people from a broad cross-section of society will gather and talk about ways of fostering public security. Prime Minister Dr Drew will address the concerns regarding the crime issues and ask the public to be part of the campaign.
He said that there is need of the collective efforts of all stakeholders and other representatives from church and religious institutions, political parts, sports associations, social clubs, private sector businesses, government technocrats and other community-based organizations.
The suggestions and insights will be shared in the meeting about the upcoming national consultation and campaign. Prime Minister Dr Drew will also engage with leaders of all registered political parties and other key groups, aiming to talk about comprehensive and inclusive steps against violence and crime.
During the meeting, PM Drew will also give a call for collaboration and partnership that can withstand crime and violence situations and promote a safer environment for all citizens. He noted that the paramount aspect of their government is to secure the life of the citizens and together, they must create a safer and more secure environment for everyone.
The 90-day campaign and National Consultation is designed to host initiative and action that can help in combating the root cause of violence. The step will also promote long-term peace and security in St Kitts and Nevis.
PM Drew noted that the whole of society approach will be used to combat crime issues, and every voice is heard in the planning process. He stressed that this is not just a government initiative, but a national effort to enhance the solution of the problem.
