The US Virgin Islands (USVI) is now many steps closer to being considered the top Caribbean destination after bagging four major awards in the 2024 Caribbean Travel Awards.
The Caribbean Culinary Destination of the year award went to St Croix, largely due to this region’s thriving restaurant offering the blends of Caribbean ingredients with international influences.
The culinary for the region includes appeals of the freshness of seafood, along with the productivity of Caribbean cuisine and toothsome flavours.
The entire USVI was recognized in the maritime category as the Caribbean Yachting Destination of the Year pointing to its beautiful warm water, advanced yachting facilities, and yachting’s undeniable allure for tourist and residents alike.
The fact that the territory knows how to throw an unforgettable shindig, also led to the designation to be crowned as the Event Destination of the Year.
Picking up where he left off in CARILEC last year, Students at the Culinary school on St Thomas got their own recognition. While Chef David ‘Benji’ Benjamin, owner of gourmet restaurants Blue Eleven and Indigo 4 received the “Caribbean Chef of the Year”.
The unique creativity in Americanized Caribbean style revamped cuisine, has placed the USVI strategic culinary center on the map.
Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte said that the awards won were actually earned by the recipients through their hard work and efforts.
“These awards demonstrate our ability to bring the world’s attention to everything the Virgin Islands has to offer as a luxury Caribbean vacation destination,” he added.
Minister Boschulte said that British Virgin Islands are looking forward to the world, coming to visit the paradise in 2025, inviting everyone to blend ‘Naturally in Rhythm’ with the Virgin Islands’ prospect in mind.
Being in its 11th year, The Caribbean Travel Awards is now a set of awards for distinction in 36 categories. A summary of the USVI’s biggest successes show that whether you’re on a sail, a palate, or simply revelling, this island looks like a dream come true.
For visitors who decide to come to the USVI, it is not only a place, it is a dream destination.
