Roseau, Dominica: Thea Lafond Gadson is all set to receive grand welcome upon returning to her home soil- Dominica on Sunday. The celebration will be held at massive level with the hosting of the motorcade rally and other event to honour the Olympic champion.
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit shared updates on the events and invited the citizens to gather for honouring Thea Lafond. He said that this is moment to celebrate the history created by athlete at the global stage of Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
She will arrive in Dominica on Sunday and will be welcomed at Douglas Charles Airport in the presence of several government officials. After that, the motorcade rally will be organized to honour her achievement which will commence from Borough’s Square, Portsmouth at 1: 30 pm.
The rally will further reach Roseau where the supporters will honour her to celebrate her victory. The celebration event will be held at Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt at 5: 00 pm in the presence of several government officials.
Prime Minister Skerrit invited,”Join us in celebrating the extraordinary achievement of Dominica’s First Olympic Gold Medalist. We invite everyone to share in this momentous occasion as we welcome her home.”
The supporters will also gather to extend greetings to Thea Lafond Gadson for etching her name in history.
Thea Lafond won Gold Medal in Triple Jump at recently concluded Paris 2024 Olympic Games and created history by winning first-ever medal for Dominica.
She became the first-ever athlete to win medal at Olympics and ended the medal drought for Dominica this year. Thea Lafond received huge appreciation as she hailed from small island nation with limited resources and other sporting facility.
She extended gratitude to Dominica for supporting her in her journey and added, ”I know this is big deal for my country, this is huge, so they are happy and excited as it the first medal for Dominica.”
Prime Minister Skerrit also personally called her after his medal victory and said that the entire nation is proud of her.
