Under the “Cool Schools Initiative” by the Joy Project of St. Kitts and Nevis, seven schools have been benefitted from the donations of fans, with an aim to curb the impact of rising temperatures in the classrooms.
Headed by Diani Jimesha Prince Drew, the Joy Project foundation has been making several donations, which included fans and water, in the past few months.
But yesterday’s donations commenced the new Cool Schools Initiative. Following that, Diani Jimesha Prince Drew visited and donated at seven schools, including Challengers Day Care, Sandy Point Preschool, Old Road Day Care, Newton Ground Day Care, Sandy Point Nursery, St. Paul’s Preschool and Day Care, and Dieppe Bay Day Care.
Diani has been constantly visiting the schools of the island and have been interacting with the students, teachers, administration and parents. She also listens to the limitations that are being faced by them and promptly comes up with solutions.
Earlier she attended the Cayon Primary School graduation ceremony and presented awards of excellence on behalf of her husband and also the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew. Significantly, PM Drew has also been a donor of several awards in various schools of his constituency.
She named this project the “climate comfort project.”
Highlighting the need and importance of The Cool Schools Initiative, she stated that the aim is to lessen the effect of increasing temperatures in classrooms due to the climate crisis.
She further added that the overall goal is to create an even more comfortable learning and teaching environment for students and teachers.
It is to be noted that the Joy project believes in the vision of “Building a sustainable future where every individual feels valued and can flourish with dignity.” The principles they follow include spreading awareness among the public, building a strong community and supportive network.
Further, practicing sustainability and empowering individuals are a few core beliefs they have and will follow in the future.
Apart from “The Cool School Initiative,” a few other projects they have been working on include the Love Box project, the menstrual wellness project, the Joyful Parks Project, and the Women of Worth.
Diani is also actively promoting the young Kittitian women entrepreneurs, showcasing support and celebrating the incredible beauty, talent, and creativity that exists within St. Kitts and Nevis.
