CAL released the travel advisory as the Orlando International Airport will remain closed due to Hurricane Milton.

The Caribbean Airlines released the travel advisory regarding Orlando International Airport on October 7, 2024. The Caribbean airline has been advised by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) that due to forthcoming Hurricane Milton, the Orlando International Airport will remain closed on Wednesday, October 9.

The closure of Orlando International Airport will affect the Caribbean Airline flights, BW 482 and BW 485, that operate between Orlando and Trinidad.

The Caribbean Airlines (CAL) advised the passengers to rebook the flight without changing the fees. Under certain conditions, the rebook without change fees will be allowed for affected passengers. These conditions include a rejection of all fees for tickets rebooked in the same cabin rebooking on any service up to October 25 with no penalty. The airline also added that all the changes must be made at a Caribbean Airlines Ticket Office or through the Caribbean Airlines Call Centre.

Several other airlines, along with the Caribbean Airlines, will cancel flights to Florida as the Hurricane is moving towards Florida. Recently, the state was affected by hurricane Helene, due to which several Caribbean flight services were disrupted. According to flight tracking reports, about 200 flights have already been canceled at Orlando International Airport. However, emergency and relief flights will be operated at Orlando International Airport.

The US National Hurricane Center said that the Milton has intensified into a type 5 hurricane. According to NHC, the Hurricane will touch the Florida peninsula by Wednesday. Before approaching Florida, it is anticipated that the Hurricane will cross the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

American Airlines as well as Miami International Airlines, have encouraged their passengers to rebook for change within October 10, 2024. They also said that the travel must be completed within a year of the original ticket date.

Schools and universities are canceled in over 20 countries due to hurricane warnings. Airlines are canceling flights and passengers are advised to follow the travel advisory released by different airlines.

The Caribbean Airlines prompted passengers to register for real-time flight notifications and get important updates via;

Passengers can check flight status on the website of the Caribbean Airlines. Passengers can also follow the social media handles of the airline.

National Hurricane forecaster on Monday said, “The winds at the center of the hurricane could weaken before it makes landfall overnight on Wednesday, but the storm will grow much larger, putting much of the Florida peninsula in harm.” The forecasters are expecting severe storms and heavy rainfalls in the Florida peninsula.
