St. Vincent and the Grenadines: While the Caribbean regions hit by Hurricane Beryl’s are overcoming the aftermath of it and coming back to normal, to make it convenient for the residents the St Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) have announced that the electricity bills for July 2024 will be shared on the basis of estimation.
The company shared that the fuel surcharge rate that means the additional charges for July is 64.51 cents per unit.
This has been decided due to the disruptions caused by Hurricane Beryl. Moreover, VINLEC will not be able to provide exact meter readings for electricity consumption for July 2024. So, this has resulted in adopting the usage of the estimated readings method to determine the amount of electricity used and, subsequently, the bill amount.
In a post on their official Facebook Page VINLEC stated, that they have to estimate the bills for most customers this month as the disruptions has prevented the workers to take readings of the electricity meters.
However, the company has advised the customers to be assured and trust them with the process, as they will make all the reasonable efforts to resolve any differences between estimated and actual reading in bills issued for the month of August.
Further, St Vincent Electricity Services Limited has shared that the Customers in the Southern Grenadines—Canouan, Mayreau, and Union Island who have already received the electricity bill for July 2024 should note that these charges will be waived only due to the impact of the hurricane on the country.
