The Straughan Foundation of Texas, USA, has donated school furniture to the Ministry of Education in St. Kitts and Nevis as an initiative to develop schools.
The Straughan Foundation of Texas, USA, has recently made donations of school furniture to the Ministry of Education in St. Kitts and Nevis. This initiative focused on the betterment of the school’s interior and comfort of children in the St. Kitts and Nevis. Various schools were covered under this initiative, such as Dr. William Connor Primary, Basseterre High, Washington Archibald High, Saddlers Secondary, Verchilds High, the Advanced Vocational Educational Centre, and Charles E. Mills Secondary.
All of these schools received school furniture that consisted of student desks, computer tables, teacher desks, secondary-grade-level desks, and teacher and student chairs. All these were provided as a step towards comfort for the students and teachers. Representatives of the schools claimed that these supplies would make the learning experiences of the children much better.
The Ministry of Education thanked the U.S. for their support and posted information about them on various social media handles.
The Government Organisation of St. Kitts and Nevis updated its official Facebook handle regarding this great initiative of the U.S. government. They shared some images of the school children who are seen using the new furniture gifted by the U.S. government. Netizens have appreciated the USA for its support and initiative towards the nation.
Michael Straughan, the Donation Coordinator, made an important statement after providing a donation to St. Kitts and Nevis. He said, “We are thrilled to support the invaluable work and dedication of your organization in providing essential educational services to the children of St. Kitts.
In August 2022, The U.S. government also provided a humanitarian shipment to St. Kitts and Nevis that consisted of various school supplies, such as books, stationery, etc, for almost 2,000 children. This great help was covered under the Denton Program. The shipment cost around USD$28,388.00 and was a combination of materials for the Ministry of Education.
The USA has always been a great friend of St. Kitts and Nevis. Even this year, the USA provided a lot of support for young children and schools that faced problems regarding basic facilities. All the schools that were given support from this donation thanked the government for their support.
Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Ministry of Education, thanked the Straughan Foundation of Texas for this great initiative. While expressing his happiness, he said, “I want to thank the Straughan Foundation for their generous donation, four 40-foot containers filled with school furniture. We are indeed grateful for the investment your foundation would have made in the lives of our students in St. Kitts”.
