Trinidad and Tobago is reeling from a wave of deadly violence that claimed seven lives between Friday night and Saturday, October 11, 2025. The latest victim was a 22-year-old man, shot and killed in Vegas, Caledonia, Morvant, on Saturday.

According to police reports, the victim has been identified as Marcus Johnson, also known as “Skeng,” who was gunned down. The reports further claimed that this is the 7th murder in less than a day which indicates that the violence spanned several communities, including Valencia, Maloney, Arima, Wallerfield, and along the North Coast Road.

Police reports also highlighted the other incident which took place in less than 24 hours in Trinidad and Tobago including, the fatal shootings of two men at Bull’s Bar in Valencia, while another man was gunned down in Maloney, and one was found dead along Guanapo Street in Arima.

Further they also mentioned that the police officials also responded to a murder at Red Granite Street in Wallerfield, while along the North Coast Road, where the body of a man was found which was wrapped in a plastic and secured with duct tape that was discovered dumped over a precipice.

They further stated that the latest discovery of the crime in Caledonia brought an increase in the numbers of homicides to seven in less than 24 hours.

Authorities further stated that they are trying to arrest all the suspects and to combat these crimes. They also urged the public to be safe and if anyone notices any suspicious man, they immediately need to reach their nearest police station and report them.

This deadly incident has sent shockwaves through the entire community of Trinidad and Tobago as the public are concerned about the rising crimes in the country. They are also questioning the government while saying, “Where are the government’s crime statistics coming from? The reality on the ground suggests otherwise. It’s concerning that despite the rising crime rates, there’s no effective crime plan in place to address the issue. From present to past governance’s. Citizens deserve transparency and actionable solutions.”
