Nassau, Bahamas: Royal Caribbean’s brand-new cruise ship- Utopia of the Seas made its inaugural voyage to Nassau Cruise Port, bringing over thousands of passengers. With the arrival, the Bahamas become the first Caribbean country to welcome the exclusive Oasis class vessel.

This new vessel which has a capacity for 8,000 passengers per sailing and is set to bring up to 16,000 passengers weekly arrived to redefine the Bahamian cruise experience. The ships’ itinerary focused on Nassau and the perfect day at Coco Cay.

Utopia of the Seas will call at Nassau twice weekly according to President of Royal Beach Club Philip Simon. He said that the vessel is the first newly built ship sailing exclusively to the Bahamas which means that more than 700,000 guests will step off Utopia of Seas on three- and four-night cruises from Port in Florida to enjoy the shores of the island nation.

With the cruise ship, the tourists will arrive in the Bahamas and engage with the local community, ultimately leading to the prosperity of the socio-economic aspects. President added that the regular calls showcased the commitment of Royal Caribbean to the Bahamas and this year, they anticipated to bring over 2.2 million guests.

The ship is known as the sixth in the Oasis class and boasts eight distinct neighbourhoods, 21 dining options, five eight whirlpools, a zip line, ice skating rink and two rock climbing walls among other amenities.

CEO of Nassau Cruise Port- Mike Maura hailed the ship’s arrival as a great day for Nassau Cruise Port. The vessel and the guests were welcomed with a vibrant showcase of the heritage music and dance performances.

Besides this, the port has been chosen as Utopia’s home away from home as CEO added that the arrival of the cruise ship speaks to the great potential of the Bahamas. The arrival of the ship also marked the value of Nassau and the wider Bahamas.

Through the Utopia of the Seas, business will be provided to the entrepreneurs as Nassau will welcome five million cruise passengers this year alone.

CEO More outlined that the cruise ship will offer over 6 million passengers in 2025, offering great opportunities to the local community. He said that the arrival of the vessel is significant for the economic prosperity in the country.

Along with Utopia of the Seas, over 30,000 cruise passengers also arrived in Nassau Cruise Port through six cruise ships on Sunday. With different vessels, the visitors docked at the Bahamas and explored its Caribbean offerings.
