Grenada: Former renowned Grenada and West Indies wicketkeeper batsman Junior Murray has unveiled his autobiography “Windball to Windies.” The book focuses on every aspect of his life including his cricket career and phases, consisting of 13 chapters.
The 13-chapter book explored his family background, the influential coaches and mentors who led him to the cricket world. The book also shed light on the moments of his debut with the West Indies cricket team and announced the story of his memorable Adelaide Test match.
In his autobiography, he also explained his story of the warm homecoming reception after he returned to the country from the Australian tour. The book also put a spotlight on the West Indies team and its selection process.
The book also discussed his exit from the West Indies cricket team, and he also explained the opening of his Junior Murray Cricket Academy. He shed light on his dedication to nurturing young cricket talent and said that cricket is an important phase of his life.
The book also showcased his cricket journey and struggles during his career, unveiling his dedication and handwork behind the wicketkeeping. Murry extended gratitude to his former school principal- Victor Ashby for writing the foreword and contributing to the book.
He also lauded his principal and added that their support during his cricket journey has remained significant. He learnt great things from him and expressed gratitude by saying that he was great motivation in his life.
Murry termed it decisive moment when he chose cricket over football and added that this was his principal who motivated him towards the cricket.
He coincide his cricket journey within the context of the nation’s collective journey and honoured the theme of the Grenada Independence- “One People, One Journey, One Future.” In his book, he also put some aspects of the Grenada’s history and progress and added, ”My cricket story is one of the many stories in the intriguing journey of our people.”
