Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew made an important visit to Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge in order to enhance Educational Collaboration and create opportunities for students. PM Drew was welcomed by several authorities of the University, such as Chairman Myron Lawson, President Dennis Shields, and Chancellor Dr. Orlando McMeans.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew’s formal visit to Southern University consisted of a short tour of the University’s campus. He visited various departments and facilities of the University, such as the Center for International Education, the Gaming Lab, and the Digital Media Arts Studio. This also provided the educational approach of the University and how they aimed to inculcate practical and theory-based learning simultaneously on the same page.
PM Drew’s important visit to Southern University was to have discussions that focused on enhancing educational collaborations between the University and the Federation. It also focused on creating opportunities for student exchange programs and building research partnerships for the betterment of students.
While talking to the authorities, PM Drew made positive remarks, stating, “Our visit to Southern University has reinforced the value of partnerships in fostering educational growth and development for our students and faculty. We look forward to exploring opportunities that will benefit both St. Kitts and Nevis and Southern University.”

The overall meeting was focused on full or partial scholarships for the students of St. Kitts and Nevis at Southern University. PM Drew also made an important remark, saying, “The goal is to provide affordable educational opportunities so that our citizens are well-prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century and create pathways to success.”
He expressed his gratitude and support for the collaboration of St. Kitts and Nevis with Southern University. He also gave credit to the Authorities of Southern University and Dr. Hadiya Claxton, Special Envoy for Investment, Development, and International Business Relations.
PM Drew also supported and thanked the leadership of Southern University and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis for this excellent collaboration.
The visit of PM Drew to Southern University ended with a short tour of the Agricultural Research and Extension Center, where discussions on advancing agricultural Education and technology took place. This further contributed to academic and scientific collaboration between Southern University and St. Kitts and Nevis.
