St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew toured the JNF General Hospital and examined the construction work of the MRI building. He shared a progress report on the upgrades to the foyer- the entrance of the hospital and said that the work is progressing rapidly.
PM Drew visited the hospital right after returning from his holidays and explored the progress in the health sector in St Kitts and Nevis. MRI building is being constructed on the compound of the JNF Hospital to accommodate the MRI machine which is a great infrastructural development in the sector.
He also gets a firsthand look at the brand-new EEG machine and the procedure of its usage was explained by the resident neurologist. The machine was donated by PAHO, aiming to enhance the neuro process and health structure in St Kitts and Nevis.
In addition to that, the foyer at the JNF Hospital was renovated in collaboration with The Cable as well as the neurology department that was recently outfitted with a new Neurofax EEG machine. The foyer has been transformed into a modern, calming and aesthetically pleasing space to enhance the experience of the visitors.
During the tour, PM Drew was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Curtis Martin, and Dr. Jenson Morton, Director of Health Institutions. He extended gratitude to the team for receiving updates from the health sector in St Kitts and Nevis.
He added,” Health is definitely progressing well and I would like to thank the team for their continued hard work. Some challenges remain but we are determined to continue our progressive work on behalf of our beloved people.”
Over the years, JNF Hospital has been undergo significant changes as Ministry of Health of St Kitts and Nevis have improved a range of specialist care available. It has included the acquisition of a new surgical eye laser, and the hospital also consisted of new CT and MRI machines, hemodialysis machines, anesthesia machines, a new EEG machine, and many other advanced tools crucial for delivering high-quality healthcare.
