Prime Minister Terrance Drew met the first batch of students enrolled at Southern University and A&M College-Baton Rouge LA. The Prime Minister and the officials of the institution discussed research partnerships and student exchange programs.
PM Terrance Drew was welcomed by university Chancellor Dr. Orlando McMeans as well as President Dennis Shields. Delegates of the institution accompanied the St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister and examined several innovations adopted by the Southern University and A&M College. They toured several agricultural research areas, which include horticulture, crop enhancement, agricultural sustainability, livestock management, and medicinal plant research.
Alongside the agricultural tour, the Prime Minister, along with leaders of the institution, toured the Center for International Education, the Digital Media Arts Studio, and the Gaming Lab, which reflects the university’s approach to different fields of education. The Prime Minister is looking forward to incorporate these advanced educational sectors in St. Kitts and Nevis through such collaborations.
The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis expressed his gratitude and thanked the institution by saying, “Last evening, I had the opportunity to meet our first batch of students who are enrolled at Southern University and A&M College – Baton Rouge, LA. I encouraged them to work hard, strive for excellence, and be great ambassadors for our beautiful twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. I must reiterate our gratitude to Southern University for this most meaningful collaboration.”
PM Terrance Drew emphasized on how education can increase the value of students and faculties and how the collaboration can benefit both the people of St. Kitts and Nevis and the individuals of Southern University. Besides educational collaboration, the Prime Minister also looking forward to welcoming investors, business owners, and the leaders of Southern University for future collaborations.
