St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Foreign Affairs- Dr Denzil Douglas has exchanged dialogues on matters of concern with Minister of External Affairs of India- Dr S Jaishankar on Tuesday at Hyderabad House, Delhi.
The meeting was held after Minister Douglas arrived in India on Sunday for his first-ever foreign ministerial tour for six days which will run through August 9, 2024. He also signed an MoU with Dr Jaishankar to strengthen the bilateral ties between St Kitts and Nevis and India based on the collaboration in the tourism, sports, and agriculture sectors.
The memorandum is aimed at fostering cooperation between the two countries through ways of enhancing capacity building. The discussion between the two leaders also revolved around the medical sector and health capacity of both countries where they agreed to the partnership in aiding each other.
Minister Jaishankar expressed pleasure in meeting with Minister Douglas and pledged to enhance the ties between St Kitts and Nevis and India. He said that the talks were fruitful, and the work will be done in the future about different developmental sectors.
Meetings to Enhance Collaboration on the Sports Sector
During his tour to India, Dr Douglas participated in series of meetings and talks with different diplomatic leaders about matters of concerns. The sports sector was put in focus during his meeting with Sports Minister of India- Mansukh Mandaviya and Dr Douglas stated that they will work closely with India to advance Sports Tourism.
The MoU was also signed between two leaders for the sports sector in which salient areas of cooperations were outlined. The memorandum demonstrated that both the countries will work for the training and competition of athletes and the teams, and a substantial investment will also be made for the technical assistance and training of the coaches.
Talks about Medical Assistance
The medical sector was discussed in the meeting of Dr Douglas with Union Minister of India- JP Nadda on Tuesday. The talks were held to support each other in health infrastructure and its advancement through strategic collaboration and investment.
The medical education was prioritized for the cooperation between the two countries and stated that the education of the children in India and St Kitts and Nevis will be strengthened. Additionally, plans and ways were also discussed to tackle the issue of the non-communicable diseases in both the countries.
Trade and Business Talks
During his meeting with Shri Jitin Prasada, Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Dr Doulas talked about trade, commerce and business aspects. He talked about the new avenues of collaboration for both the countries and discussed the matters of concerns about the investment.
Now, he will further meet with diplomatic leaders and participate in several other events for enhancing relations between the two countries.
