The 50th Nevis Culturama Festival was a great success for the people of Nevis compared to 2024. A noteworthy development has been witnessed this time, with passengers’ arrival at the Vance W. Amory International Airport in Nevis increased by an incredible hike of 68%.
Nevis Homecoming and Culturama 50 highlight the island’s rich cultural heritage and the importance of the event in maintaining and promoting it. The increased number of visitors helped local businesses gain attention and made Nevis a tourist attraction.
Thousands of people paraded through the streets wearing vibrant costumes to celebrate the success of Culturama 50, a celebration of culture and history. The celebratory ambience, dancing, and music perfectly captured the spirit of Nevisian pride.
This year’s Culturama 50 and Homecoming festivities occurred from July 25 to August 6, 2024. It has boosted the local economy. People could make the most of Nevis as the golden jubilee celebrations began as early as July 4 of this eagerly awaited festival.
The “Culturama 50 Emancipation Concert,” the nation’s largest summer celebration, occurred on August 3, 2024, at the Nevis Cultural Village. The Nevis Culturama Festival declared, “This is the ultimate night of music, culture, and freedom”.
Many artists set the stage on Euphoria, giving one of their best live performances and spreading joy and positivity. Performers such as Burning Flames, Speedy, Triple-K International, Jah Vinci, Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Skinny Banton, Friends Band, Small Axe Band, Smooth Vybz Band, Kore Band, DJ Smudge, SG Prezidential, Itelboulos, & Reloaded Sound raised the festival atmosphere. The incredible dua Nelia Jones and Sugar Bowl hosted this great event.
Among the festival’s highlights are the Soca Monarch Semi-Finals, the Opening Ceremony of Culturama 50, the Senior Kaiso Fiesta, the Mr Kool Contest, and the Soca Monarch Contest, to name a few.
Nevis’s premier, Mark Brantley, posted the data on his official Facebook page, highlighting the event’s overall success and the rise in passenger numbers.
The data showed Charlestown Harbour saw a 7% increase in harbour activity. Oualie Water Taxi reported a 60% overall surge in water taxi traffic. And 1025 vehicles were recorded as passing through during the homecoming festivities by Long Point Vehicle Traffic.
Brantly also shared a message on his social media account expressing his gratitude to everyone who participated in this event, stating, “Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our rich culture and heritage. Your presence made this milestone event truly unforgettable. Here’s to many more years of unity and celebration!”.
