Antigua and Barbuda: LIAT 2020 is all set to offer direct service of flights to 11 new destinations in September 2024. In the next two weeks, the airline will operate to and from Antigua and Saint Lucia ad further expansion will be made with addition of four islands including Barbados, Grenada, Dominica and St Kitts and Nevis.
In the 11 new destinations, the LIAT 2020 will provide direct service to Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago as the airline planned to grow its fleet.
The authorities have also decided to introduce new generation E2 195 narrow-body aircraft by the end of the year to support the expansion. The aircraft will consist of 128 seats and assist the courtiers to expand flights to Panama.
The second aircraft ECCA’s Cat 1 status will provide service on the route to and from Antigua and Miami, Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands. LIAT CEO Hafsaf Abdulsalam announced the expansion and noted that the flights will provide direct access and enhanced connectivity to the Caribbean region.
He also announced that the ticket prices are available on the official site of the LIAT, and the price will be determined with time. According to the airline, the ticket prices will remain competitive and affordable so that the passenger can visit the Caribbean region with enhanced travel experience.
The airline also aimed to enhance the sustainable practices of the Caribbean region so that it could also benefit tourists from across the globe.
LIAT 2020 has started its commercial operations on August 6, 2024, with the inaugural flights to Saint Lucia. LIAT has returned to skies after the closure of the operations of LIAT 1974 in Janaury 2024 due to the failure of the company in the COVID-19 period.
Now, the government of Antigua and Barbuda collaborated with Air Peace- a Nigerian based company for the further start of the operations of LIAT with new branding and approach. The airline is aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and create the direct access between the countries.
