Grenada: Kirani James and Anderson Peters from Grenada have advanced to the finals at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. The former will play in the men’s 400m final race, and the latter will play in the javelin throw.
Both are experienced athletes from Grenada with an impressive history at different World Championships in their respective categories. Kirani James won the semi-final by clocking 3.78 seconds and finished the track in first position.
Notably, he last won the Gold Medal for Grenada in the Olympics in 2012 and now after 12 years, he is eyeing at the Gold at Paris for his country.
On the other hand, Anderson Peters has never won any Olympic medal in javelin throw and will also represent Grenada for Gold. He reached the finals of the game by throwing it at 88.63 and finished it in second position.
His biggest competitor in the game will be Indian Neeraj Chopra who reached the finals by throwing javelin at 89.34m in his first attempt. Neeraj Chopra also won the Gold in the javelin throw in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The finals of the men’s 400m will be held on Wednesday and the government has invited the citizens for the watch party which will start at 2: 00 pm. The government asked the citizens to come out of their homes to extend their support for the history in making.
The finals of the Javelin Throw will be held on Thursday in which these players will compete.
Earlier, Lindon Victor of Grenada won the bronze medal and turned out to be the first athlete to win the medal for the country in Paris Olympics 2024. He won the medal in decathlon and gained appreciation for his performance.
Paris Olympics are underway, and the Caribbean regions have bene performing well in every game with two Gold Medals from Saint Lucia and Dominica. Thea Lafond and Julien Alfred ended the medal drought for the Caribbean region after winning gold in women’s 100m and triple jump respectively.
