Jamaica: A joint operation conducted by the members of the St Andrew North Police Division led to the arrest of a man and a discovery of a loaded gun in Mavis Bank, St Andrew on Saturday. The officials reported that they seized a Tarrus 9mm pistol with a magazine affixed containing two 9mm rounds.
According to officials of St Andrew North Police Division, they received a report about the illegal gun, upon which they conducted a joint operation on November 22 around 10:00 A.M.
The officials reported that they conducted a search of the suspect’s premises following which they discovered a Tarrus 9mm pistol with a magazine affixed containing two 9mm rounds in his room.
After that, the officials arrested him and took him to the Mavis Bank Police Station where he is being investigated. The officials also said the investigation into the matter is still pending as the suspect is not cooperating.
The officials did not disclose the identity of the suspect as the Jamaica Constabulary Force often withholds the identity of suspects in ongoing investigations, particularly before formal charges are laid.
Authorities further stated that this seizure brings to 55, the number of illegal firearms recovered by the division so far this year. And according to data of previous year, a total of 35 firearms and 358 assorted rounds of ammunition were seized in comparison to 55 firearms and 460 ammunition in 2025.
