St. Kitts and Nevis: The five-day Investment Gateway Summit (IGS) 2024 is currently being hosted at St. Kitts and Nevis, where hundreds of investors from around the world are engaging with the visionary leaders of the twin island nation and industry pioneers to learn more about sustainable development options and their benefits.

Day three of IGS 2024 was packed with sessions by leaders from St. Kitts and Nevis, panel discussions on a range of topics including investing in technologies for enhancing food production and security, energy and resource management, and strategies for effective due diligence and risk management were discussed. It was followed by live entertainment and the excursion in St. Kitts, which ended with a Gala Dinner with Prime Minister Terrance Drew.

Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Economic Development and Investment, St. Kitts and Nevis, shared insights on the ‘Sustainable Investment- the pathway to economic development’. His speech highlighted the crucial role of sustainable development and citizenship. He further highlighted the dedication of the remarkable team that has been working on sustainable explorations on Nevis since 2010.

Dr. Douglas also shared that his dream of extensive use of green energy in the country is nearly becoming a reality. He proudly shared that despite all the challenges like natural disasters and water scarcity, strategic investments have made the island of St. Kitts and Nevis progressive and resilient.

Dr. Douglas’s insightful talk on Green Island was followed by another session presented by Stanley Jacobs of St. Kitts’ Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA) on Exploring Thrilling Investment Prospects in St. Kitts and Nevis. He shared various investment options that would benefit the investors currently as well as in the long run.

Later, another conversation on ‘the vision for our sustainable island state’ generated curiosity among the attendees about the beauty and development of St. Kitts and Nevis in a short span of 40 years.  Dr. Joyelle Clarke and Konris Maynard, Minister of Public Infrastructure and Energy were the guests of this session and shared the country’s growth chart with the people present and their vision for the sustainable future.

Strategies for the Royal Basseterre Valley Aquifer were unveiled by Austin-Jay Farier, whose presentation was focused on the Plans for the Royal Basseterre Valley Aquifer and its upcoming plans and policies.

After the break and exhibition, the round of panel discussions started, which included total of three discussions by the group of experts.

The first discussion was on “Investing in Technologies for Enhancing Food Production and Security” which was moderated by Daniel Arthurton and on the panel were Miguel Flemming, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture St. Kitts; Dr. Ricardo Neil, SKN Robotics Association and Huey Sargeant, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture Nevis.

The second Panel Discussion was on Energy and Resource Management, the third on “Navigating Integrity: Strategies for Effective Due Diligence and Risk Management with the advent of Artificial Intelligence.”

The panel of experts had an intense discussion on the factors affecting due diligence and the impact of Artificial intelligence on Citizenship by Investment was discussed by Karen Kelly, Vice President and Global Head of Investment Migration, Exiger; Eddy Leviten, Chief Technology and Marketing Officer, FACT UK; Fabienne de Blois, Associate Director, S-RM. Leah Chaderton moderated the discussion.

Amidst all these sessions full of knowledge and learning, a cultural presentation in the form of Dance “Mother Earth is Dying” depicted the message of environmental awareness and preservation. The expressive movements and surreal storytelling surprised the guests.

Continuing with the fun and excitement, the organizers had planned a guided tour of Caribelle Batik and Old Road Rum.

This unique “Finding Kittitian Gems” excursion showcased Kittian culture, local craftsmanship, and heritage.

At Caribelle Batik, the attendees witnessed and learned about the traditional craft of Batik making. Further, the visit to Old Road Rum offered the people an exploration of the rich history and production techniques used behind Kittian Rum.

The eventful day ended with a Gala Dinner with Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew to celebrate the forty years of excellence and elegance of the twin-islands.

PM Drew was accompanied by his wife Diani Jimesha Drew, Minister Konris Maynard and Micheal Martin, CEO of St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Unit. The guests savoured on local delicacies and enjoyed engaging and connecting with the ministers and fellow investors.
