Guyana: A tragedy unfolded when a young footballer in Guyana passed away on July 3, Wednesday morning, during his training session at 6:00 AM. It was a routine session with the Guyana Defence Force FC at the National Training Centre, Providence.
This saddening news of the passing away of the promising talent named Enoch Carmichael was shared by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF).
Enoch Carmicheal was 27, was a goalkeeper who was preparing for the KFC Elite League match which was to be held on 4th July against Fruta Conquerors FC.
According to the reports, Carmicheal collapsed while practicing and was rushed to the Diamond Hospital. But unfortunately, he could not survive.
The entire GDF coaching staff and team were right with him from the football ground to the hospital.
GFF President Wayne Forde extended his deepest condolences to the family and friends of Enoch Carmichael and shared that the football community is saddened by the loss of such a promising talent.
Carmichael was a skilled goalkeeper and he began his football journey as a young player. He left a lasting impact while he represented Paradise FC in Berbice and Guyana Defence Force FC.
Also, the GFF shared that his proficiency in front of the net greatly contributed to his team’s success in the Elite League.
Den Amstel FC, also expressed sadness on the passing of their fellow comrade and friend. His team mates share that he was extremely passionate for the game and his unwavering commitment was an inspiration for many.
Paradise Invader FC revealed that Enoch was not just a football player, but he also loved playing cricket.
As the mark of respect, GFF has postponed all the KFC Elite League matches which were scheduled for this week, until the further notice.
Currently the Guyana Defence Force are preparing for the upcoming matches scheduled this month, top priority being the CFU Club Sheild Competition.
