Guyana announces 20-member badminton team for 2024 CAREBACO in Aruba

Following the announcement, the Guyana Badminton Association released a statement noting that the young athletes will compete in several categories, including Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, across the Under-11 to Under-19 age groups.

Guyana announces 20-member badminton team for 2024 CAREBACO in Aruba

The Guyana Badminton Association has announced a 20-member team to participate in the 2024 Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation (CAREBACO) Junior Tournament, which will be held from August 22 to 25 at Oranjestad, Aruba.

Following the announcement, the Guyana Badminton Association released a statement noting that the young athletes will compete in several categories, including Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, across the Under-11 to Under-19 age groups.

The Association further highlighted that the selected badminton team includes talented junior and senior athletes that have been demonstrating exceptional skill and are extremely dedicated to the sport.

The team that has been announced is as follows:

Under-11 Boys Singles

Joel Rambiriche and Liam Brummell

Under-11 Boys Doubles

Joel Rambiriche and Liam Brummell

Under-11 Girls Singles

Anjaneysa Godette and Riyo Alexander

Under-11 Girls Doubles

Anjaneysa Godette and Riyo Alexander

Under-11 Mixed Doubles

Joel Rambiriche, Liam Brummell, Anjaneysa Godette and Riyo Alexander

Under-13 Boys Singles

Further, sharing the teams of Under 17 and Under 19 categories, the Guyana Badminton Association shared that the team is talented and hardworking, has brought several trophies for the nation, and has represented the nation at several national and international stages.

The Under-17 team includes

Xavio Alexander – Boys Singles, Under 19 Boys Doubles

Gabriel Felix – Boys Singles, Boys Doubles, Mixed Doubles

Nikolas Pollard – Boys Singles, Boys Doubles

Mishka Beharry – Girls Singles, Girls Doubles, Under 19 Mixed Doubles

Malia Haley – Girls Singles, Girls Doubles, Mixed Doubles

Under-19

Frank Waddell – Boys Singles, Boys Doubles, Mixed Doubles

Joanathan Debidin – Boys Singles, Boys Doubles, Mixed Doubles

Jonathan Robinson – Boys Singles, Boys Doubles

Vishal Gopaul – Boys Singles, Boys Doubles

The team shared that they are thrilled to showcase their skill and take this as an opportunity to enhance camaraderie and sportsmanship. They will also learn new things from their fellow players who will represent their nation.

The Badminton Association added that the CAREBACO tournament in Aruba will have participation from the top junior badminton players across the Caribbean. This will be a unique opportunity for the Guyanese players to compete against elite athletes and gain invaluable experience.
