Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast: A fatal accident has been reported on the Essequibo Coast on Dartmouth Public Road at around 2:20 p.m which resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy. The accident took place on Tuesday 27th May 2025, the police authorities are investigating this accident.
The teen who died in the accident is identified as Yujraj Ram, a student of Anna Regina Multilateral Secondary School and was a resident of Lot 28 New Road, Essequibo Coast.
According to the reports, the accident involved a Minibus with the registration plate ‘BAC 597’, which was driven by a 34-year-old male who is a resident of the Charity Squatting Area.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the minibus was travelling northbound when Ram, who had just disembarked from another minivan, attempted to cross the road from behind it. He reportedly paused briefly before attempting to run across, during which he collided with the approaching minibus.
The driver shared that when he got off to check on the boy he was in an unconscious condition, and was taken to the Oscar Joseph Charity Hospital. The medical personnel who checked on the Ram clarified that he suffered a severe head trauma and was bleeding from the nose and mouth.
Ram was pronounced dead at 3:20 p.m by the doctors. His body is kept at the hospital’s Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Following the incident, the driver of the minivan is in custody at the Charity Police Station and is assisting with the further investigations.
