Trinidad: The Caribbean Premier League 2025 continues its magic showing that anything can happen in the tournament, as the Trinibago Knight Riders (TKR) secured a historic first win of the tournament against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) on August 27, 2025 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, Trinidad. In the home ground of the Trinibago Knight Riders and a lively ground they celebrated an astonishing 8 wicket victory over Falcons.
As the match started the toss was won by the TKR and they chose to ball first, his decision came out to be good for the team as their bowlers made immediate effects. The early breakthroughs and the loss of 2 wickets in the opening over made the Falcons on the weaker hand.
The Falcons, after the early loss of the wickets never managed to find their rhythm in their batting despite playing defensive. The Young batter for Falcons, Jewel Andrew showcased maturity in his gameplay and was the top scorer in his team for the match, he scored 40 runs in 31 balls, and the captain, Imad Wasim scored 37 runs in 25 balls. Despite their imbalance batting and the early fall the Falcons managed to score 146/7 in 20 overs.
Mohammad Amir who claimed 3 wickets in a fully precise four- over spell and only gave 22 runs. Batters were finding it difficult to face his swing and accuracy. Along with him the bowlers who were trying to maintain the pressure were Andre Russell and Akeal Hosein claiming 2 wickets each.
The second innings began with the Knight Riders maintaining a calm, measured and professional chase. Keacy Carty anchored when he sensed the loss and pulled the score of 60 off 45 balls, accompanying him were Alex Hales and Nicholas Pooran, Hales scored 55 runs in 46 balls and Pooran’s 23 in 11 balls were the runs that gave them the final blow of win.
Knight Riders completed the chase with 8 balls to spare and won the match with a score of 152 for 2 in the 18.4 overs with an amazing six from Pooran’s bat. Mohammed Amir was titled as the Player of the Match he played a major role in turning the game into their favour.
With this dominant win the Trinibago Knight Riders have secured their first home win in the CPL 2025. Further with this win, they are currently at the 2nd position in the points table.
