Belize has achieved a significant milestone in its cruise tourism industry with the first-ever visit of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander cruise on August 21, 2025. The ship docked at the bustling Fort Street Tourism Village (FSTV) in Belize City, marking a historic moment for the coastal country. The cruise was welcomed with enthusiasm by local citizens, while government officials hailed it as the beginning of a new era for Belize’s growing cruise tourism sector.
Upon the arrival of the Cruise Ship a Plaque Exchange Ceremony was held in which the representatives from the Belize Tourism Board, Belize Port Authority, Caribbean Shipping Agencies, Fort Street Tourism Village, the Ministry of Immigration, Belize Customs and Excise and the Ministry of Health and Wellness. The event was a celebration of teamwork and collaboration. The event highlighted Belize’s commitment of creating memorable experiences for international visitors.

The Margaritaville at Sea Islander cruise will make eight stops in Belize between August and November 2025. Passengers will have the opportunity to explore the country’s rich culture, natural beauty, and warm hospitality during their visit.
Officials from various departments present at the inauguration highlighted that the cruise’s stop at Belize’s port will have a significant economic impact, driving increased tourism and creating enhanced business opportunities for local enterprises.
The cruise is also considered as a one-of-a-kind experience that includes a three story poolside LandShark Bar, an adult only Tiki Bar and Pool, a 14 story tropical atrium with a variety of Caribbean themed entertainment and dining options. The Islander includes rooms for over 2,600 passengers and apart from that it also combines relaxation and adventure, offering guests a promising taste of Caribbean lifestyle.
The official closing ceremony for the historic visit of the Islander is set for Saturday, 23 August, 2025, to provide a memorable conclusion for the Cruise’s debut. The tourism officials expect that its arrival will encourage more cruise lines to include Belize, making its reputation as a premier Caribbean destination.
