Cannabis weighing over 33.4 pounds and worth about $267, 200, was seized by the Police Narcotics Department and Customs of Antigua and Barbuda on Wednesday.

The officials, acting on specific intelligence conducted a thorough investigation and made yet another drug seizure at the V.C. Bird International Airport of the twin-island nation.

The law enforcement agencies seized a black suitcase whose detailed inspection revealed 28 vacuum-sealed packages. These packages were tested by the authorities and founded to be positive for cannabis.

The authorities have not arrested any individual and has taken both the suitcase and the contents received from it to the police station for further investigation.

The investigation conducted by both law enforcement agencies came a day after police authorities conducted an operation at the port of entry on Tuesday. This operation by police officials led to seizure of almost half of a million dollars’ worth of cannabis, sealed in around 60 packages in a suitcase.

Following the seizure of drugs, the citizens of the country raised questions on the apprehension of any suspect. As the netizens took to their social media accounts and shared their opinions on the investigation conducted by the authorities.

One user with handle Cool Ruler commented, “Antigua police is always good at seizing drugs but very bad at finding out the owner of these drugs. In real countries, police allow the drugs to be collected, then arrest the person or persons responsible.”

“All these seizures by the Police, still no arrests. Making me wonder about the involvement of police officials in these operations. Come on. Who is minding the store???,” wrote person with the user handle Faithful nation #1.

Meanwhile, the police officials of Antigua and Barbuda have shared that they are conducting a proper investigation into the matter. They noted that they are committed to punish the guilty and put him/her behind the bars.

The authorities also shed light on their commitment to continuing to make efforts and conduct such kind of investigations with a vision to make Antigua and Barbuda, a drug-free nation.
