Antigua: A joint operation by police and customs in Antigua yesterday led to the seizure of 42 pounds of cocaine at the VC Bird International Airport.
According to the reports, authorities revealed that while they were conducting a joint drug seizure operation, they found a black suitcase. Upon investigation, they discovered 16 vacuum-sealed packages filled with controlled substances.
Further, to conduct the investigation, the seized packages were sent to the police station. The investigation revealed that it was a Class-A drug and as of now no arrests have been made in this case.
The authorities have reported that the 42 pounds of cocaine seized is approximately valued at $666,900.
The authorities revealed that they are currently checking the security camera footage to identify the suspect and know whether the suspect is connected with any criminal network within the country or beyond borders.
The residents of Antigua have expressed appreciation for the prompt actions the authorities are taking in drug seizure cases. But it is also to be noted that how the bag reached there, maybe someone from the airport staff is involved in it who got the bag out, said one social media user.
