Antigua and Barbuda: The tourism officials of Antigua and Barbuda were thrilled to welcome the return of Germany based Condor Airlines to the twin island nation. The inaugural return flight touched down at the VC Bird International Airport from Frankfurt International Airport on November 5.

The arrival of the flight also marked the first time that the airline came back to Antigua and Barbuda since COVID 19 pandemic.

To mark this significant occasion, the officials welcomed the flight with a ceremonial water canon salute, after which the disembarking passengers received a warm and hospitable welcome from the locals of the island nation.

According to the information, the flights have been introduced to meet the growing demand for travelers seeking to travel between the two destinations during the peak winter season of 2024-2025. The service will run from November 5, 2024, to May 6, 2025, easing German travelers throughout the period.

As the return flight arrived at the airport, Minister of Tourism of Antigua and Barbuda, Charles Fernandez expressed his excitement and said that the team is thrilled to welcome Condor Airlines back for the winter season and emphasised that the German speaking market is the second most important European market for Antigua and Barbuda and this direct service is anticipated to open valuable access to the twin island nation for central European travellers.

Meanwhile, the senior manager of network planning for Condor, Oliver Feess, highlighted that with the resumption of the connection between Frankfurt and Antigua and Barbuda, the airline is offering visitors another option to enjoy their vacation in this beautiful country.

He noted that the team is delighted to continue its strong collaboration with Antigua and Barbuda, and the new A330-900 neo with the new business class is an ideal product for this destination.

Notably, the newly introduced Airbus A330-900 is known for its comfort and advanced features and boasts a capacity of 310 seats including 30 business class seats and 64 premium economy seats which have been tailored to meet the preferences of upscale market of Antigua and Barbuda.

This new service represents a major boost for the tourism industry of Antigua and Barbuda with a total of 27 rotations tagged with Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

While sharing glimpses of the flight at the VC Bird International Airport through its official Facebook account, the airport authorities noted that this was a moment of nostalgia for some of the individuals at the airport.

They added that Condor Airlines is no stranger to Antigua and Barbuda and their relationship dates back to the early 70s when they first ventured into tourism business.

“So we were indeed thrilled to welcome the airline’s return to the V.C. Bird International Airport today, as it resumes long-haul flights between Germany and Antigua and Barbuda,” they outlined, adding that they are looking forward to several more years with a valued member of the aviation family.

Moreover, these additional flights will ease the travellers looking forward to travel to the Caribbean region during the peak winter season during which people look forward to vacations especially in the Caribbean to indulge in its Christmas and New Year celebrations which are held annually at a very large scale and attracts a number of visitors from around the world.

This air carrier has always shown its commitment to the Caribbean region and is aiming to increase its footprint in the region by introducing its services to these small island nations during the most busy period which runs from November to August annually. It also strives to ease its customers which have been demanding for the flights on this particular route.
