Angostura bitters and rums from Trinidad and Tobago are on their way to China in a shipment costing around TT$1 million.
This is the third significant delivery under a large supply and purchase deal formalized in July 2024 with the client, Caribbean Commercial Management (Hangzhou) Company Ltd.
According to the agreement that reached up to this point, the Angostura has supplied the total value of TT$3 million in products and beverages to China.
It can be recalled that Trade and Industry Minister, Paula Gopee-Scoon assisted in the sealing of this container for this shipment.
She said it was a proud day for both the Island country and Angostura, saying that it placed the company on a pedestal that would enable the international market to appreciate its quality and heritage.
Speaking on behalf of Chinese Embassy, Yang Han said this shipment is the most perfect gift for the occasion since Trinidad and Tobago and China marks 50 years of diplomatic relations this year.
He applauded that Angostura established very strong trade relations since 2021, thanks to its participation at the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
Angostura began exporting products to China in 2019. A stop was put to the exports in 2022 to redesign its strategies and resume the exports on a bigger scale in 2024.
Now the company has partnered with its Chinese counterparts to market its bitters and rums to the Chinese cocktail trade.
In this shipment, it is more than just business. It is one avenue of putting across the Trinidad and Tobago experience of the world in the hope of encouraging more definite trade and cultural relations.
