Saint Lucia Dive Fest 2024 is all set to kickstart on 5 September at Anse Chastanet with its unforgettable diving fun. From 15 to 21 September 2024, this year’s Dive Fest includes interactive activities: a reef cleanup, a Lionfish derby and cook-off, a photography competition, and coral out-planting. It is not about diving but more about celebrating marine conservation and beauty in Saint Lucia’s underwater.
The famous dive feast at Anse Chastanet celebrates sea life around the island, action-packed with a schedule of boat and shore dives, PADI courses, and photographic competitions. Divers may expect several dives at varying sites around the island through ecotourism activities that promote the cause for protection of Saint Lucia’s marine environment.
The thrill begins upon arrival at Scuba St. Lucia on September 15 at 8:30 a.m. The diving week begins with an exciting shore, wall, and marine reserve dive at Anse Chastanet. This initial dive provides a perfect introduction to the underwater world, where divers will meet the expert crew guiding them throughout the week.
On September 16, divers are scheduled for a two-tank dive to two different dive sites, where the underwater scenery continues with incredible scenes. Refreshing fruits and pastries accompany a relaxing surface interval on the beach before a delightful lunch at the famous Anse Mamin beach. These activities are rounded off on this day by an award-winning photographer, Bernd Rac, who will help the participants improve their skills in underwater photography.
The excitement builds on September 17. This day also includes the Dive Against Debris Specialty course. Divers will participate in an underwater cleanup and receive the Project AWARE Dive Against Debris certification. Those who do not wish to obtain the certificates are encouraged to join, as it’s a fantastic way to contribute to the health of the ocean while enjoying a great dive.
On September 18, the PADI Invasive Lionfish Specialty course will be available for those wanting to participate in the Lionfish Derby but still needing the required certification. September 19 is considered quite an action-packed day as divers go on their morning dives to do the much-needed lionfish culling around the waters of Saint Lucia.
On September 20, divers will get to the island’s north side by divers to visit the Lesleen M Wreck on a two-tank dive. Later, participants will meet up for the farewell cocktail party. Photos competition winners will be announced and presented in a slideshow image showcase for the week’s best images. Attendees will leave with joyous diving experiences as the Dive Fest ends on September 21.
