Castries, Saint Lucia: Ackeem Auguste became the first Saint Lucian batter to score a triple century (308) for a national cricket team . He smashed Dominica’s Under-23 bowling on the third day of a Bilateral Series reaching the landmark nearing lunch at the Mindoo Phillip Park on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Following a historic triple hundred by former West Indies Under-19 cricket captain Ackeem Auguste, the Dominica Under-23 gave up the ghost in the second inning, as they lost to 124 all out in 37.1 overs; losing by an inning and 10 runs.
Sky LaFeuille started the slide when he first removed Malakai Xavier for 00 – 04 for 1, and then trapped skipper Stephan Pascal for 13 – 28 for 2. Wickets continue to tumble at regular intervals 3 for 41, 4 for 55, 5 for 73, 6 for 94, 7 for 95, 8 for 104, 9 for 123, and all out for 124.
The wickets were shared with Jayden Elibox taking 3 for 11, Sky LaFeuille grabbed 2 for 10, Lee John 2 for 11, Keon Gaston 2 for 32, and Royce Paul 1 for 07, with 11 extras delivered.
J Joseph top-scored with 40, J Vidal made 17, S Pascal and J Alexander contributed 17 apiece, and C LeBlanc 11 as the only scores of note in a disappointing second inning batting display, as Saint Lucia Under-23 won the only 3-day encounter in the inaugural Under-23 Bilateral Series by an inning and 10 runs.
Earlier, Saint Lucia Under-23 resumed on the third and final morning 313 for 7 with Ackeem Auguste 191 not out, and Lee John 16 not out. Auguste was the ninth wicket to fall with the total 474, before Royce Paul 47 not out and Sky LaFeuille with 05 took the score to 488 all out. Auguste knock of 308 contained 23 fours and 18 sixes in 404 minutes off 257 balls with a strike rate of 119.84.
Kyron Phillip bowled his heart out for his team finishing with figures of 24.4 overs-3 maidens-4 for 106, with a wicket apiece going to E Doctrove, JN Alexander, T Leblanc, MI Xavier, and D Alexander, but the dominance of Auguste on the bright, sunny Monday morning removed any potency the Dominica attack may have had as he peppered the boundary and beyond with a classy yet savage display of batting.
