St Kitts and Nevis: The first consultative activity for the construction of the new climate smart hospital was held at the JNF General Hospital on Monday. The discussion was hosted by Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew with other staff and government officials.
The gathering featured discussion on plans and processes for the construction of the smart hospital, aiming to pave the path for efficient construction. The government is seeking to start the construction as soon as possible and due to which, the meeting discussed the ways of enhancing quality and other important aspects that could strengthen its making.
Prime Minister Dr Drew added that the government have invested significantly in the JNF General Hospital with an aim to enhance the healthcare sector in St Kitts and Nevis. He promised that the investment will further be increased for the smart hospital so that it could offer high level of care to the patients and citizens.
The aim of the project is to mitigate the impact of the powerful hurricanes as it will fulfill a resilient approach, aiming to withstand natural calamities. The second benefit of the hospital will be its technological approach as it will provide modern approach to the healthcare sector of St Kitts and Nevis.
Thirdly, the hospital will benefit the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis with quality healthcare delivery and other advantages in the treatment. Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew stated that the need of the hospital is to enhance the technological aspect and resilience approach.
The hospital will also contribute to the agenda of turning St Kitts and Nevis into sustainable island state so that it could withstand nature’s fury.
The project was announced by PM Drew in July 2023 as part of their sustainable agenda. On this hospital, the government also signed the Offer and Acceptance Document with President of the Overseas Engineering and Construction Company- Hsiao Yun Yeh for the construction of the new climate-smart national hospital.
The project will be constructed with the collaboration between the government of St Kitts and Nevis and Republic of China (Taiwan).
