Trinidad: The city of Tarouba witnessed another match that ended the winning streak of their home team Trinibago Knight Riders in the 20th match of the Caribbean Premier League 2025, the match was played between Saint Lucia Kings and Knight riders. On Wednesday night the Kings not only ended Knight Rider’s streak with 5-1 but also secured their spot in the playoffs with a seven wicket win.
The game began as the Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first in the Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad. The Knight Riders who were considered as a team with destructive batting were flattened by the spinners of the Kings and made the team all-out with just 109 runs in 18.1 overs on the scoreboard.
The most effective player for the Kings came out to be Tabraiz Shamsi, the south african spinner claimed 3 wickets by giving only 12 runs. To his support was Roston Chase (2/19) and Khary Pierre (2/31) which kept the Knight Riders under pressure and apart from Nicholas Pooran none of the batter managed to get settled as wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
In response to the short fall of the Knight Riders, Kings chased down the target in just 11.1 overs with a ruthless intent. From Tim Seifert setting the tone with 36 off 19 balls, with 6 boundaries and a sixer, to Youngster Ackeem Auguste with 28* off 18 balls and Tim David 17* off 10 balls they slid through the win with a remarkable 53 balls spare.
For an incredible performance and his match winning spell that swung the match into Kings favour, Shamsi was named as the Player of the Match.
The win of the Kings not only ended the dominant streak of Knight Riders but the Kings also made it to the top of the Points table with 12 points from 8 matches. The matches in the CPL 2025 depicts a clear message that the tournament is totally unpredictable as it is entering into its decisive stages.
