Guyana: The Guyana Police Force found a lead in the murder case of the Linden teacher by arresting the man wanted as the main suspect of the case. The murder victim was a 26-year-old teacher, Jenel Pollydore.
The incident took place on July 19, 2025, when the victim’s ex-partner, Shaka Vaghen Phillips shot her at a wedding reception. Jenel had been granted a restraining order against the suspect due to prior abuse.
Police Investigation
Moreover, the Police authorities said that on Sunday they carried out an operation in search of Phillips, and shortly before 4pm, the operation resulted in the arrest of Shaka Phillips, also known as ‘Concrete Man’.
According to police reports, Jenel was murdered when Phillips confronted her for not answering his calls to which he shot her twice – one in her neck and one in her back, after which he fled the scene.
It was later found during the investigations that Pollydore was a mother to 3 children and was a guest at a wedding reception in Amelia’s ward in Linden. Meanwhile, Phillip is a 21-year-old unemployed man from Central Amelia’s Ward.
Phillips was detained by Guyana Police Force in the South Amelia’s Ward area of Linden and was immediately taken into police custody, facing the suitable charges.
Also, the Police Authorities are actively investigating into the matter and the Guyana Police Force also thanked the citizens and the individuals who cooperated with them which eventually led to Phillip’s capture.
