Category 4 Hurricane Erick has made a landfall on the coast of Mexico with maximum 1sustained winds of at least 125mph, creating havoc among locals of potential threats that it brings along.
This also marks the first time a category 4 hurricane has ever been formed in the pacific coast and made a landfall this early in the hurricane season. This also signals the potential of the upcoming hurricane season which has been ruled out as an ‘above average’ season.
As per the reports shared by the National Hurricane Centre for the Pacific, the hurricane made the landfall early in the morning in extreme western Oaxaca, Mexico which is just east of Punta Maldonado. The NHC has warned citizens of potential damage that the hurricane brings along it including devastating winds, heavy flooding, mudslides and more.
Areas under warning include the coasts stretching from Acapulco to Puerto Angel. The hurricane is notably intensifying on a rapid pace over the last few days. Yesterday it was reported as a category 3 hurricane and by today morning it was a category 4 hurricane. It is expected that, the hurricane may weaken in the coming days, however it will have a huge impact on the Mexican region.
