Roseau, Dominica: Four athletes are all set to represent Dominica at 2024 Paris Olympics Games which is scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The games will feature 329 events in 32 sports with 206 nations participating with 10,672 athletes.
The first athlete in the squad will be Thea Lafond Gadson who will part in the Triple Jump game in the Olympics. Hailing from Mahaut, 30-year old athlete has the fourth ranking currently in Triple Jump format worldwide.
She also secured Paris 2024 Olympic Scholarship and participated in the games for the third consecutive year. She has also been qualified by entry standard with result of 15.01m and remained national record holder in Triple Jump and Long Jump.
Talking about her achievements, she secured the title of the World Indoor Champion for one time, while Lafond remained second in the top 8 standing of the World Champions for two times. She also won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games and remained on the first position in the top 8 standing of the World Indoor Championship.
Thea Lafond Gadson from Dominica also won bronze medal one time at Pan American Games and won gold at NACAC Champions. She also secured victory at the Diamond League meeting and won bronze medal at Pan American U20 Championship.
Lafond has also secured bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games and secured position in Top 8 standing at Pan American Games. She is also the winner of the bronze medal at NACAC Championship and remained in the standing of NACAC Championships for three times.
The second athlete on the list of the squad is Warren Lawrence who will participate in 50m Freestyle. A 21-year-old has remained national record holder in 50m freestyle and will make debut in the Olympics.
He has also been qualified by Universality Place and said that he is confident to perform at her best in the games.
The third athlete is Jasmine Schofield who will participate in 50m freestyle and also awarded a World Aquatics Scholarship to train at a high-performance training centre. She will also make Olympic debut and has been qualified by Universality Place. She is also the student of Dominican Olympian Francilla Agar Schofield.
Dennick Luke will be the fourth athlete and participate at 80m at the age of 23. He is from Portsmouth and secured the scholarship of Paris 2024 Olympic. He will participate in the games for second consecutive year and has been made as the national record holder in 800m.
He also secured the bronze medal in NACAC U23 championship.
