LIAT 2020 continues to broaden its network, launched its inaugural direct flight services from Antigua and Barbuda to Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.
An Embraer ERJ-145, operating as 5L365 touched down at Piarco International Airport with 15 passengers on board from Antigua and Barbuda. Passengers onboard the flight were welcomed with lively cultural and steelpan performances.
Grand Welcoming Ceremony
On arrival, the aircraft was welcomed with traditional water cannon salute, and passengers were greeted by the tourism officials of Trinidad and Tobago.
The welcoming ceremony was attended by several tourism delegates including, Chief Executive Officer, Hafsah Abdulsalam; Works and Transport Minister, Rohan Sinanan; Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Senator Randall Mitchell and many others.
The authorities also conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the celebration of the inaugural flight services between Antigua and Barbuda and Trinidad and Tobago.
LIAT 2020 to provide 250 additional seats
LIAT 2020 will bring an additional 250 seats daily, equating to around 1750 seats weekly, aiming to connect Trinidad with several other destinations like Saint Lucia, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada.
All these connections are expected to play a significant role in strengthening family ties, fostering cultural exchange, and boosting tourism industry of both Antigua and Trinidad.
Shedding light on these additional seats, the tourism authority of Trinidad said that it will serve as a greater linkage with their regional partners and would play a crucial role in increasing their inter-island connectivity.

The introduction of flight services by LIAT 2020 between Antigua and Trinidad marks a new chapter in Caribbean air connectivity.
Shedding light on the services, the CEO of LIAT 2020, Hafsah Abdulsalam said that Trinidad is not just a destination but a gateway to greater regional connectivity.
He added that this route between Antigua and Barbuda shed light on their commitment to providing seamless and reliable travel options that connect the north and south of the Caribbean and beyond.
Emphasising on this expanded route, CEO Abdulsalam noted that they are truly proud to provide all the travellers with more travel options, enhancing flexibility and providing elevated travel experiences.
Minister Randall Mitchell on new route between Antigua and Trinidad
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts of Trinidad and Tobago, Randall Mitchell said that the re-entry of LIAT is essential for them to achieving the goals of Trinidad to increase their connectivity across the region.
He added that these increased flights will play a huge role in bringing a large number of visitors to the destination. Minister Mitchell noted that these services will positively impact the local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, local attractions, artisan and many others.
He asserted that this significant boost will open greater accessibility for visitors to experience the vibrant culture, exquisite cuisine and unique heritage of the country.
