Prime Minister Terrance Drew inaugurated the St. Peter’s festival as it opened on October 5 and will close on October 27.

Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Terrance Drew, declared the opening of St Peter’s Festival. On his visit to St Peter’s, he expressed his gratitude towards the Festival committee.  The festival officially began with the ‘family food fair’ on October 6, 2024, and will end on October 27, 2024.  The festival also includes football tournaments and the cricket league.

PM Terrance Drew said that the festival will unite the community of St Peter’s. This year, St Peter’s community is celebrating the festival with a theme called “One Community Moving with Togetherness.” He also said that over the years, he has contributed notably to this festival.

This year, there was a series of fun games organized in the event. Along with fun activities, the festival is packed with sports and competitions. The opening day competitions included 4-legged race, 100m race, 3-legged race, lime and spoon, wheelbarrow race, dog and bone, and tug of war. Football tournaments and a cricket league have also started on October 8 and October 9, respectively.

‘Walk for Peace’ was a theme in which St Peter’s Festival organized an event to advocate for the importance of mental health on October 12, 2024. On October 13, a special event for older adults was organized. The event was organized to appreciate elderly individuals for their contribution towards the community.

“Every year I contribute significantly to this festival. This cultural extravaganza seeks to bring the great state of St. Peter’s together,” the Prime Minister added.

This year’s festival will be celebrated with the ‘Frieye Concert’ on October 25, 2024. The concert invites local artists and musicians. The concert ticket is priced at $100. However, the ticket at $120 will be available at the gate. Online tickets are also available for booking. However, venues like Champion’s Bar in Port Zante, Family Shack at Lower Money Hill, and All B’s Snackette at Douglas Estate are also providing tickets for the festival.

The event also includes a Pageant competition that celebrates young talents across the community. The St Peter’s Queen Pageant will be held on October 27. Different events are celebrated under different themes which addresses some societal issues. These themes are organized to address societal problems like crime and violence, mental health, and ignorance towards older adults. In addition to this, music, dance, food, games, and sports are also arranged to bring unity to the community of St Peter’s.

Prime Minister Terrance Drew shared his gratitude and thanked St Peter’s festival community.  The Prime Minister took to his social media and wrote, “I want to thank the committee for its dedication and hard work.”
