Regional Caribbean Airline LIAT 2020 began its initial flight operation between three regions, including Barbados, St.Lucia, and Antigua & Barbuda.
LIAT 2020, a regional Caribbean Airline launched in August 2024, started offering its flight service to Barbados. Following the launch, the flight initially operated between Barbados, St. Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda. The airline started the operation of three flights per week.
Barbados, being a global tourist destination, has recorded an increase in tourism after the global pandemic. The regional Caribbean Airline, LIAT 2020, anticipates more rise in the number of visitors after the introduction of LIAT 2020 in Barbados. The collaborative effort between the regional government and the Nigerian Airline organization “AirPeace” made the LIAT 2020’s successful launch in several Caribbean regions.
LIAT 2020 flight service between Barbados, St. Lucia, and Antigua & Barbuda offers various ranges of travel options for passengers. Along with upgraded onboard services, it also allows visitors to explore islands within these three regions. Improved hotel services, increased airline routes, and cruise industries are currently dominating the tourism sectors of the island. Barbados is capitalizing on its beautiful beaches and rich culture.
An accessible flight service three times a week in Barbados will invite global investors and stakeholders to invest in this tourist destination. Barbados’ economy solely depends on the tourism industry. It is one of the leading Caribbean tourist hubs that planned to welcome 826,338 passengers to the cruise terminal in 2024. Barbados has recorded 661,635 passengers in 2023.
In September 2024, the LIAT 2020 announced “September to Remember”, an exciting offer on all flights operating between Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, St Kitts and Nevis and Saint Lucia. The offer was valid from September 17 to September 30, 2024. The airline encouraged all visitors and travellers to book flights during this period.
In recent times, LIAT 2020 plans to expand its flight service to various other Caribbean tourism hubs. Along with Barbados, St. Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda, the airline has started its flight service to Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Grenada. The airline also plans to introduce LIAT 2020 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
LIAT 2020’s CEO, Hafsah Abdulsalam, officially announced that the airline has chosen St. Vincent and the Grenadines as the Southern Caribbean hub for tourism. The expansion of new routes to different Caribbean countries manifests the integration of Caribbean nations as a global tourism destination. LIAT 2020 has received support from every regional government of the Caribbean.
The CEO of LIAT 2020 highlighted that the expansion of new routes will develop inter-regional relationships in the Caribbean. Citizens of every nation can eventually be able to exchange their culture. “We hope to serve the people of the Caribbean for the long term,” Abdulsalam mentioned while encouraging continued support for the airline.
