St. Kitts’ Independence Celebration Is All Set To Come Alive

The theme A People, Proud and Strong: Independence 41 will be observed as St. Kitts celebrates their independence on September 19.

St. Kitts prepares for its 41st Independence Day celebrations under the theme "A People, Proud and Strong.

The people of St. Kitts are all geared up as the celebrations have all kickstarted for its 41st independence Day. From flag-hoisting ceremonies and parades to cultural events, people are setting up huge celebrations throughout the week. 

Several events are initiatives under the broader prospects of celebrating the occasion of Sr. Kitts’s Independence Day. A culinary event arranged by Taste SKN has already started on September 14. The vent will come to an end on September 21. In a celebratory spirit, the event will bring together several culinary restaurants across the islands to present the best of their delicacies.

St. Nevis will celebrate Independence Day to commemorate the national identity of the island. As a contributor to this vision. PM Terrance-led delegation has visited public and private primary schools in the Basseterre zone. The visit marked schools namely Deane Glasford Primary School, the Halliday-Smith Primary School, Epworth/Maurice Hillier Memorial, Beach Allen Primary School, The George Moody Stuart School, Seventh Day Adventist Primary and Tucker Clarke Primary School.

The PM also appreciated the principals, teachers and support staff for managing these schools so effectively. He also reiterated his aim to provide quality education to the students of the island.

The government has also decided to host the National Heros Day in honor of the heroes who have given immense contributions to make this day happen. Apart from hoisting the National Heroes Day, the government has planned to arrange the  Wreath Laying & Recognition Ceremony at Sir Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw Memorial Park. 

Important foreign delegates across the globe are extending their warm congratulations to the island for its 41st Independence Day celebrations. 

Mrs. Luminita Odobescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania in her congratulatory message to he Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Right Honourable Dr Denzil Douglas wrote, “The celebration of the Independence Day of the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis gives me the pleasure to extend to you my most sincere congratulations and wishes of wellbeing and prosperity. Following up on our recent bilateral contacts in Saint John’s, in the sidelines of the 4th UN High Level Conference on Small Island Developing States, I reconfirm Romania’s long-term bilateral commitment towards the Caribbean, as well as our constant support for the enhancement of the EU-Caribbean partnerships.”

Every year, the government makes sure it leaves out nothing to make this day worth celebrating for the netizens of St. Kitts. Kittitians and Nevisians commemorate their national identity and cultural heritage during this public holiday. Parades, street dancing, music, and pageants are held to commemorate the day. The celebrations highlight the lively and varied cultural customs of the islands, showcasing the distinctive music, cuisine, and artwork of Saint Kitts and Nevis. It’s a time for people to unite, rejoice in their freedom, and pay tribute to the warriors who lost their lives defending it.
