Jamaica: Rasheed Broadbell secured the bronze medal in the men’s 100m hurdles finals for Jamaica at the ongoing Paris Olympics on Thursday. He finished the race by recording a season best 13.09 seconds and added another medal to the tally of the country.
The first position was won by USA’s Grant Holloway who secured the gold medal in 12.99 seconds. The second position was also secured by the athlete of United States as Daniell Roberts clinched silver in 13.09 seconds.
With the victory, the medal tally of Jamaica reached at six including one gold, three silver medals and two bronze medals. The first medal was won by Rajindra Campbell who clinched the bronze medal in men’s shot put and ended the medal drought for Jamaica at Paris Olympics 2024.
Broadbell with his bronze medal victory raised the tally of the medals in the third-place category to two.
In the silver category, the first medal for the second position had come from Kishane Thompson in the men’s 100m. He won the first silver medal for Jamaica in the Paris Olympics 2024. The second silver for Jamaica was secured by Shanieka Ricketts who won the second position in women’s Triple Jump.
Notably, the event was dominated by the Caribbean athlete from Dominica- Thea Lafond who won the gold medal. She earned the first-ever Olympic medal for the country and scripted history by becoming the first athlete to win gold.
The third silver came from Wayne Pinnock of Jamaica who secured the second position in the men’s long jump. With three silver medals, the country enhanced its position in the Olympic standings in Paris.
Jamaica also managed to earn the first-ever gold in Paris Olympics with the victory of Roje Stona in the men’s discus throw. He also scripted history by securing the Olympic records with the throw of 70.00m.
With these medal tally, Jamaica stood at the 32nd position in Paris Olympics 2024 and set to season with great efforts.
For today, the games will include Women’s 4x400m Heats at 3: 40 am, women’s 100m Hurdles Semi-Final at 5: 05 am, Women’s 4x100m Relay Final at 12: 30 pm, Men’s Triple Jump Final at 1: 10 pm and Men’s 400m Hurdles Final at 2: 45 pm.
