Kingston, Jamaica: Several regions of western and central Jamaica experienced earthquake tremors of 4.2 magnitude on Tuesday around 5:46 PM.
Confirming the occurrence of earthquake in several sections of Jamaica, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) shared a post on their social media account.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the ODPEM reported that the quake affected 15 kilometres southwest of Christiana in Manchester.

The statement by ODPEM stated, “The earthquake unit is confirming a felt earthquake that occurred in the parish of Manchester, located approximately 15km SW of Christiana, preliminary Magnitude reading 4.2, Time of occurrence 5:46pm.”
While ODPEM has confirmed the occurrence, but as of now the earthquake is still unconfirmed by a seismic agency. However, the residents have reported that they have felt the earthquake during that time.
There has been no official reporting, but Volcano Discover revealed that “a possible earthquake might have occurred near Montego Bay, Saint James, Jamaica.”
