In an interesting game between Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and Barbados Royals (BR), which took place at Bridgetown, TKR remained successful in chasing the target of 157 runs that was given by BR. The major contribution came from the bats of Nicholas Pooran and Shaqkere Parris, who were able to score 35 runs, respectively.
After defeating Barbados Royals, TKR has officially broken the unbeaten record of Barbados Royals so far in the Caribbean Premiere League 2024. It was a tough competition for both the teams as they were extremely well in their form on the ground. Though Barbados Royals struggled with the spinners of TKR, they managed to put up a decent score of 157/8.
In the final over of TKR batting, they had to hit 11 runs to seal the victory in the match. Akeal Hosein and Terrance Hinds were at a strike during the last over, and they were successful in balancing themselves against the best bowler, Jason Holder.
A free hit during the last two balls of the final over gave both Akeal and Hind a sense of confidence. They successfully played great shots and ended the game with 159/8. Even though Barbados Royals started with a great stretch, TKR had their luck by their side that evening.
Akeal Hosein was facilitated with the title of ‘Player of the Match’ due to his significant contribution in both fielding and batting. He took two crucial wickets while the Royals were just at 29. Along with that, he maintained a great partnership with Terrance Hinds in the final overs of the match by securing 20 runs on ten balls.
Kieron Pollard, Captain of TKR, expressed his happiness after the match when he appreciated his entire team for their massive contribution to the game and team spirit. He expressed his worry while stating that the game wasn’t going well in the beginning. But the outstanding performance of all the bowlers and batters made this win possible.
Rovman Powell, Captain of BR, also appreciated his team for fighting till the end of the game. He gave major credit to the bowlers, who did their work well, citing that they were short on 10-15 runs, which took the match away from their hands.
There was a massive silence on the ground as the crowd saw an exciting game of the unbeaten Barbados Royals against the team of TKR. Both teams will now face each other in another big match of CPL 2024, which will be held on 28 September 2024.
