Police in Sweden shared an update confirming the death of 11 people during the shooting at a senior education school on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025. The incident took place at Campus Risbergska on the outskirts of the city of Orebro on February 4tn, 2025, shortly after 12:30 pm.
Roberto Eid Forest, head of the local police, said that the crime scene had severe damage, making it challenging for the authorities to investigate the circumstances that may have led to the incident.
He further added that the suspect is one of the deceased and the number of injured is still unclear, with ongoing investigations.
Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson stated that this was the worst shooting in the history of Sweden and a very painful day for all the citizens of the country. He added that his thoughts are with those victims who were confined to a classroom while fearing for their lives.
Initial Investigation
During the investigation, police reported that 10 people were killed during the fire, with the number of deaths expected to rise with further investigation.
Moreover, it was shared that the suspect acted alone and was a first time offender and there were no signs before the attack was made. The police did not find any connections of the suspect to terrorism.
As per the media reports, very few students were on campus on Tuesday afternoon after their exam. They were quickly taken to a nearby building for shelter while some were hiding inside the school.
One of the victims of the shooting, Andreas Sundling, told the police that they heard three bangs and loud screams.
Furthermore, the local police issued a statement stating that the incident is being seen as an attempted murder, arson, and violent weapons offence.
